William (Bill) Keith McBride

Born June 24, 1943

Died March 26, 1993 Automobile accident

Bill was my friend since we entered elementary school in South Ogden. We lived across the street from each other on 37th and Porter Avenue in South Ogden. Bill was always a laid back easy going person. I can never remember Bill being mad at or mean to anyone. We use to spend hours playing and exploring together. His family was the first to get a TV on the block and we would always watch Howdie Doody on Saturday mornings. Bill's dad bought a wild mustang pony in Wyoming and they kept it in their little backyard for a few month's. We spent hours with that little pony. It was at that time that his parents bought a farm in Plain City and moved away. We stayed in touch and I would go out an stay with him on the farm on weekends once in a while. We were reunited in school at Weber. Bill, Jim Schoenfeld and I joined the Marine Corp Reserves together during February 1961. We graduated on a Thursday if my memory is  correct and by the following Saturday we were on a train headed to basic training in San Diego, California. We did everything together during those six months of active duty. When we came home we were all going different directions with missions, school etc., however we still saw each other in reserve meetings, hunting and doing military honor guards at parades, etc.. Bill became a paramedic. Bills life ended tragically in an automobile accident on the highway in California somewhere between Baker and Barstow. Bill and his younger brother Dennis were headed to California for a dance competition for his daughter Debbie. On the way a Semi-truck crossed over into oncoming traffic and hit their car head on ending their lives and the life of Bill's son Mitchell. Dennis's son was thrown from the vehicle and survived the crash.

Bill you will always be remembered for the good friend that you always were. No one could have asked for a better one. You will always be in my thought's and heart.
